Organic Face Cream – 3 Tips For Choosing the Right Product

It may sound unbelievable, but it’s true: an organic face cream isn’t necessarily organic or natural, despite what it says on the label. This is because many manufacturers of cosmetics and other personal care items use the term “organic” — even if their products contain just one percent certified organic ingredients.

What’s worse is that this is being done legally since the US Food and Drug Administration doesn’t have powerful regulatory control over the beauty and cosmetics industry. So how can you make sure that what you’re buying is a genuinely organic face cream?

Here are three tips.

Tip #1

Look at the amount of natural ingredients a product contains. It doesn’t matter whether you’re shopping online or in your favorite health and beauty store: the organic contents of all skincare products should be listed on the product label or packaging. You may not be familiar with some natural ingredients, but don’t worry! Getting information nowadays about what’s in an antioxidant face cream organic product is just a Google search away. And this leads us to…

Tip #2

If you’re a savvy consumer, you wouldn’t just grab something off the grocery shelf and feed it to your family, would you? At the very least, you’d want to know what’s in it before you’d even consider trying it. The same goes for a skincare product such as an organic face cream. Natural and organic ingredients feed and nourish your skin, just like how fresh fruits and vegetables improve your health.

Here’s a rundown on some of the best natural ingredients whose effectiveness in skin care and skin rejuvenation has been extensively studied and documented by scientists and dermatologists:

  • Natural vitamin E (Alpha-tocopherol): It reverses the effects of skin aging by reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. A powerful antioxidant, I’m not surprised it’s in my favorite antioxidant face cream organic preparation.
  • Cynergy TK: This keratin-rich ingredient — derived from the wool of carefully-raised sheep in New Zealand — keeps the skin firm and elastic. A clear, glowing complexion and radiant skin are two of the benefits this natural chemical provides.
  • Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10: A more concentrated form of the naturally-occurring antioxidant called Coenzyme Q10, it is one of the best ingredients a high-quality organic face cream should contain. It penetrates deep into the pores and helps maintain our skin’s Coenzyme Q10 supply, which depletes as we grow older or when we’re feeling stressed. It also contains vitamin E, hence its anti-wrinkling effect, leading to youthful-looking and healthy skin.

These ingredients and others are powerful and effective when it comes to reversing the effects of skin aging. Yet they’re gentle enough not to irritate or hurt one’s face, where the skin can be more sensitive than on other areas of the body.

Make no mistake, though: the powers of these organic face cream components aren’t merely hype. And this leads me to my last tip…

Tip #3

Know the company behind the product. Many skincare brand names are popular among consumers because they are endorsed by celebrities or because of intense marketing campaigns. There’s nothing wrong with that, but as a savvy consumer, learn to look beyond the glitz and glamour. Does a company’s product contain enough amounts of organic and natural ingredients? Perhaps more importantly, were the components of their skincare creams and lotions scientifically tested and approved?

I’m happy to say the skincare solutions that I use have passed such tests with flying colors.

If you’re going to be spending your hard-earned money on organic face cream — or any other skincare product for that matter, make sure you spend it wisely. Buy something that has been proven to be organic and effective, by the scientific community and by end users themselves. A Guide to Organic Face Cream and Antioxidant Face Cream

More and more of us have the understandable desire to get away from the many artificial chemicals in our food, supplements and skin care products. That’s why we often look for organic face cream and antioxidant face cream. We have no trust in all those chemicals that are routinely placed in face cream and skin care lotion and gel.

This is even true — I think it is especially true — of the famous names, the big brand-name products we see everywhere. The bigger the brand name, it seems, the longer the list of chemicals I find on the label!

We look up organic face cream and antioxidant face cream because we want the purest skin care products possible, as natural as possible.

Now I have to say, I see the word “organic” tossed around so much, it’s often a meaningless word. Most of the time, there’s no way to know if it’s a genuine claim or just an advertising gimmick.

What I’ve had to do, is research the ingredients of the skin care products I use. My big question is, has every ingredient in this face cream been tested in clinical trials, with human volunteers?

Another important question for me, are all the ingredients as natural as possible, and does the product avoid those chemicals I’m highly suspicious of?

(If you’d like to read more, I have a list on my website of common, harmful chemicals found in face creams all over the place, including the shelves in your nearest pharmacy.)

Since oxidation damage from free radicals in our skin is one of the biggest causes of aging skin and wrinkles, I’m a firm believer in using the best available antioxidant face cream. And while I’ve already said I’m skeptical about “organic face cream” claims, I insist on skin care products that use natural ingredients proven effective in clinical testing.

Advantages of Eating Organic Raw Food

Eating organic raw food is as old as the human race. Long before cooking food was even considered, man ate the food God provided in its natural state. Genesis 1:29 states: “Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” Long ago man learned that cooking some foods, especially meats, extended the time in which it was safe to eat it without becoming sick. This became the first step to processing and preserving foods.

As the population of the world grew, providing food to the masses living in the city became a problem to be resolved. The development of freezers and chemical preservatives extended the shelf life of many foods. Super markets came into being and a revolution in eating habits took place. Unfortunately, along with the change in food choices also started the deterioration in health and the beginning of chemically preserved foods, pharmaceuticals and western medicine.

The human race learned long ago that cooking meat before eating helped keep them from getting sick. Since then, the practice of cooking has expanded to include all types of foods and is now considered an art. Very few Americans eat meals which include raw elements, except for the leafy green salad, and it is usually made of iceberg lettuce. In a country where ketchup is considered a vegetable in school lunches, it is time for another revolution in eating habits.

Eating organic raw food brings Nature’s intentions into focus. Eating raw refers to fruit, nuts, and vegetables, in their natural state, direct from tree, bush or vine.

It isn’t easy to simply abandon years of tradition and revert back to 100% raw food. Margaret Mead once said, “It is easier to change a man’s religion than to change his diet.” Those looking for better heath can begin by incorporating more organic raw foods into their daily lifestyle. Following are several advantages to eating organic raw food.

1. Raw foods are complete foods and come packaged with their own digestive enzymes; therefore you do not need to eat as much to satisfy your nutritional needs. The heat of cooking depletes vitamins, damages proteins and fats, and destroys enzymes which benefit digestion.

2. Organic raw foods do not put chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides into the body reducing the stress on the liver.

3. You can lose weight. As your percentage of raw foods increases you feel satisfied and have more energy on smaller meals because raw food has the best balance of water, nutrients, and fiber to meet the body’s nutritional needs.

4. Raw foods have more flavor than cooked foods so there is no need for additional salt, sugar, or other processed condiments that can irritate the digestion system.

5. Even a child of 5 or 6 can prepare most of the items for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This gives children a sense of self-esteem and independence, not to mention the break it gives Mom and Dad.

6. Eating a diet of organic raw foods can reverse or stop the advance of many chronic diseases, including heart disease and cancer. Remember, cooking creates free radicals, which are the major cause of cancer. Chemicals also increase free radicals. When you lower the number of free radicals your cells are bombarded with, you lower your risk of cancer.

7. Eating organic raw foods eliminates the processed foods and chemicals typically found in American diets which can create inflammation and clog the arteries.

8. An organic raw food diet can protect you from acute diseases such as colds, flu, allergies, etc. Raw foods maintain a nutritionally sound, healthy body and with sufficient nutrition the body will not become diseased. Elimination of chemicals reduces mucus production and allergies.

9. Heartburn, gas, indigestion and constipation are eliminated. As long as you combine raw food properly, eating fruit alone, digestion improves and the food no longer sits for long periods in the digestive system fermenting and rotting.

10. Elimination and absorption are improved. With the increased ability to digest food, the body is able to utilize nutrition betters, absorbing nutrients into the blood stream instead of the toxic chemical overload from processed foods. With the better digestive ability of raw food, the colon cleanses itself and after all the old foul smelling garbage is cleaned from the colon and eliminated, bowels move easier and no longer stink up the restroom (or whole house).

11. Eating raw saves you money on doctor bills, drugs, and health insurance.

12. So don’t waste your food, yourself, and our planet by cooking what you eat. Fruits, nuts, and vegetables which are whole, fresh and raw are brimming with life and have the ability to transmit their life force directly to you.

Changing your lifestyle to include raw, organic whole foods is the first step on the road to a healthier body. Take charge of your life and choose to have a healthier body and lifestyle today.

Organic Pet Food 3 – Make Your Own Or Buy

This is our third and final article in this series. With the pet food recall a couple of years ago still fresh in many dog owners minds the question continues to loom whether making your own pet food is the right choice. Certainly, for your dog’s health and wellbeing it can be the best option.

There are many resources and books to find recipes for homemade pet food online. The issues you face are really two fold. First, do you have the time to commit in making your own dog food? Secondly, you will need to research which is the best balance of protein to carbohydrates to veggies & fruit. What you will find on the subject is that most Vets and experts cannot agree on the best balanced diet for your pet.

In order to get a better understanding of organic dog food let us go back to the beginning. Ancestrally, our canine companions hunted and ate raw meat absorbing the nutrients such as grass, grains, and veggies from their prey. Therefore, some experts will tell you certain parts of raw chicken, raw beef bones, as well as turkey and pork is great for your dog. Yet others will say; only cooked food and never cooked fowl bones are best with the occasional raw egg.

Understanding what evolution has done for humans, we tend to believe in the later. One thing Vets and exerts do agree on is that your dog’s diet is not the same as a humans. Many foods we consume are deemed dangerous to dogs; such as chocolate in any form, onions, salt, garlic, raisins, & grapes to name just a few. So if you are thinking of just making an extra plate of your dinner for the dog think again.

There is definite time commitment involved in deciding to make your own pet food. Consider your personal schedule and preparing meals for your human family daily; can you find the time to prepare a meal for your dog as well. As a routine, switching from commercial dry/canned dog food and fresh homemade dog food is not a good idea. Your dog’s digestive system is delicate and trying to incorporate both will cause stomach issues and accidents in the house.

Gradually and slowly, blend their diet to avoid any problems when switching from commercial dog food to homemade dog food until the diet is all homemade (usually within 15 to 30 days). As with humans, variety is the spice of life and your dog will need some variety in their diet as well. Diversity in your homemade dog food recipes will help ensure their dietary needs are being met. Bring your recipes to your vet and ask them if your dog’s nutritional needs will be realized.

Commercial organic pet food can be a great alternative for those dog owners who cannot devote the time but still wish to give the very best to their dog. In our previous article, we discussed more on this subject. Do not be fooled by all the commercial hype on organic dog food. The pet food industry is spending millions on advertising and will tell you homemade dog is wrong and not what your pet needs.

At the end of the day, what your pet needs is a balanced diet. Whether buying organic dog food or making your own homemade dog food, it can be the healthiest choice provided pet owners do their research and invest the time.
